Dalian's ClimateIt is fairly windy in Dalian, due to the powerful Yellow Sea draughts that hit the jutting peninsular with refreshing fury.But the perennial current from the ocean helps moisten the air, making it fresher to breathe than some of China's other heavily industrial cities. Autumn in Dalian is normally dry and temperatures range from 11o to 17o C. The autumn season arrives in late September as cold temperatures enter the region. The average temperature drops down to around 15 to 20oC (59 to 68oF). Therefore travelers should bring light jackets, some light pullovers, and slacks, especially if going out at night.
Winter in Dalian, generally speaking, it is not very cold in winter compared with other cities located in Dongbei (the northeastern part of China). From late November, the cold north winds become stronger and dominate the city till the following February. January is the coldest month, when it averages minus 4.9 oC degrees, with extremes as low as minus 24oC.
